We’re so excited to announce that our Do Good, Do Beautiful campaign phase two has officially kicked off! We’ve got a stellar team of panelists ready to sort through all of the fierce and fearless female-led non-profit applications that we received. Over 240+ of you applied!
Check out who your team is, and watch this space and the @AlbaBotanica social channels for further updates.
Hilarey Benda
You may remember Hilarey from our campaign earlier this year. She’s back, and thrilled to help support other female-led non-profits! Here’s a quick refresh on the amazing things she does:
An animal lover through and through, Hilarey easily has one of the best jobs in the world. Founder and president of Beople’s Buddies, a non-profit with the mission to rescue and rehabilitate abandoned cats and dogs, Hilarey works tirelessly to ensure every animal receives all the love and snuggles it deserves.
Hilarey also teams up with local nonprofit Tree People to plant a tree in honor of every adopted animal as a reminder that all life is interconnected. On top of that, she only uses products that are cruelty free, botanically-based and never tested on animals.
Marguerite Nesteruk
We were lucky to have Marguerite participate in our campaign earlier this year. She’s back as well, and can’t wait to go through all of the applications. Check out this brief blurb on how she likes to #DoGoodDoBeautiful:
Marguerite is a part-time urban farmer, school garden-to-table teacher, and badass botanist residing in Los Angeles.
This former fashionista now spends her days with kindergarten to 5th graders, teaching them hands-on lessons in their school’s garden. Her kids love to get their hands dirty and experience the incredible reward of seeing something grow from seed to stalk.
Marguerite believes that once you have a connection with nature, you can go about life in a healthy, intentional way. She prefers to say no thanks to anything that doesn’t support sustainable, clean living.
Lauren Galley
Remember this fearless female from earlier this year? Lauren Galley may only be 23, but this girl power superstar has an extra bright future ahead of her. She’ll contribute her voice on our panel of judges. Check out all that she’s done so far:
Lauren eats, breathes and sleeps female empowerment. She’s an award-winning mentor, author, and founder of Girls Above Society, a non-profit dedicated to empowering tween & teen girls to feel confident and positive as they face pressures from today’s media-driven society.
Lauren doesn’t think that any girl should buy into what society pressures her to do, look like, or say, and for her it’s most important to surround herself with people and products that align with her core values!
Ying Chu
We’re excited to introduce you to Ying Chu! Editor extraordinaire Ying is the Executive Beauty Director at Glamour. She gets to oversee all aspects of the editorial process for the publication’s beauty content. Ying also contributes her expertise to notable media outlets such as The New York Times, New York Magazine, The Today Show, and Good Morning America.
Ying started her editorial career at Canada’s Flare magazine upon graduation from Ryerson University in Toronto, Ontario, and moved to New York City in 2004 to join the urban multi-cultural startup Suede. She has since held editorial posts at Vogue, Seventeen, and Marie Claire. We’re thrilled she’ll be sharing her expertise with our other panelists as they review the applications.
Our Own Team!
The Alba Botanica® brand team is incredibly excited to experience the evolution of the Do Good, Do Beautiful campaign.
The campaign embodies every pillar that Alba Botanica® stands for – female empowerment, animal rights & rescue, and environmental sustainability. To see passionate, engaged women contributing to the world in a meaningful way is, in a word, awesome. The team is thrilled to help support these women and their missions with a Grant Program initiative.
So… what’s next?
Our panelist team will be hard at work reviewing applications over the next few weeks. We’ll be ready to share our top 5 finalists by the end of January, at which point we’re turning it over to YOU to VOTE for your favorite finalist.
In the meantime, keep an eye on our social channels and check out the #DoGoodDoBeautiful hashtag for inspiring content from the community.
